Cyberpunk TCG Smashes $21 Million on Kickstarter — The Most Funded Game in Crowdfunding History

WeirdCo's Official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game has rewritten crowdfunding history, surpassing $21 million with less than three days left on the clock. Here's everything you need to know about the most-funded tabletop game ever launched.

When WeirdCo flipped the switch on their Kickstarter campaign for the Official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game on March 17, 2026, they set a goal of $100,000. It seemed ambitious enough for a brand-new TCG publisher. That goal was obliterated in five minutes.

Now, with fewer than three days left before the campaign closes on April 18, 2026, the Cyberpunk TCG Kickstarter has crossed the $21 million mark — making it not just the most-funded trading card game in Kickstarter history, but the most-funded tabletop game ever crowdfunded. Period.

A Record-Breaking Run from Day One

The campaign launched at noon EDT on March 17 and crossed the $3 million mark in under an hour. By the three-hour mark, it had cleared $5 million — fifty times its original goal, before most backers had even finished their morning coffee. The momentum never let up.

When the campaign passed $15 million, it surpassed the previous record held by the Cosmere TTRPG — itself a jaw-dropping crowdfunding achievement — to claim the title of most-funded tabletop game in crowdfunding history. The Cyberpunk TCG didn't just beat that record: it blew past it and kept climbing.

The Team Behind the Cards

Cyberpunk TCG is developed by WeirdCo, a Seattle-based tabletop studio co-founded by Elliot Cook and Luohan, in close partnership with CD PROJEKT RED — the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. CDPR is actively involved in the creative output, ensuring the cards, artwork, and world-building stay true to the franchise.

"It makes me realize how many more eyeballs we have on us and how important it is to stay humble," WeirdCo's Elliot Cook told Kickstarter. "The job isn't finished at WeirdCo — this was merely a sprint to the marathon line."

Why Now? Why This Game?

The timing is no accident. CD PROJEKT RED confirmed there are no current plans for additional Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, and the sequel is still years away. The franchise's animated series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, introduced millions of new fans to Night City. The TCG sits at the perfect intersection of a beloved IP, a hungry fanbase, and a TCG market that's been booming — with Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Disney Lorcana, One Piece TCG, and the upcoming Riftbound all competing for wallet share.

WeirdCo's decision to use Kickstarter wasn't just about funding. According to Cook, going direct to fans first lets them match actual demand when they go to print, giving them real data before the retail launch planned for Q4 2026.

What Comes Next

The first wave of rewards — starter decks and Beta booster displays — ships in Q3 2026 via express shipping for Netrunner Starter Kit tier backers and above. The second wave, containing accessories, Beta Boxes, foil Lucy cards, and remaining products, follows in Q4 2026. A retail launch is also planned for Q4 2026, though Kickstarter backers will receive products that are distinctly marked as Beta editions, complete with exclusive artwork variants not available at retail.

If you haven't backed yet, the campaign closes April 18. A pledge manager will open after the campaign ends with limited late-pledge availability — but if you want the full Kickstarter Beta experience, now is the time.
